A little bit about ME:
What is your favorite local store and why?
My favorite local store is Madame Virtue & Co. Located down one of Melbourne’s charming iddy-biddy laneways it is a French boutique that boasts the crème de la crème in prêt a porter and haute couture collections, as well as their own namesake label and an array of ornate vintage gems! I love this store because it projects a sophisticated and timeless take on international trends!
What do you love about fashion?
I love that fashion exists as a universal language that can link all forms of culture. No matter what your mother tongue is you can wistfully admire, interpret and follow trends by watching a runway show, gazing at magazine advertorials or simply by drawing inspiration from that old lady in the street wearing a miscellaneous headscarf and distinctive colourful socks.
What trends are you coveting right now?
The bold, bright colour popping and blocking trend due to invade our wardrobes this summer! I have already invested in a few daring pieces so by the end of this season I am sure my wardrobe will be home to a delicious tapestry of vibrant ensembles!
The highlight of your week at SHOP
Watching & helping out on the SHOP 4 Kids photo shoot! It was so exciting and surreal watching the entire creative process. The styling was fresh and unique- who would have thought layering board shorts over tight, bright red jeans could look so awesome on a five year old!
What surprised you?
That every day in the SHOP office is different! New ideas are constantly sprouting, inspired by daily clothing and accessory deliveries which is projected in the pages of SHOP each month!
What did you learn?
I learnt that to work for a magazine it takes hard work and dedication- but if you put yourself out there even by volunteering at local fashion events all the experience you obtain will contribute to securing that dream position! During my week at SHOP, I used my backstage Fashion Week shoe taping skills to help prep the shoes for an upcoming photo shoot!
